He decides to use the money to hire a butler. The butler isn’t too keen on the job at first, but he takes it because there aren’t that many butler-jobs around at the moment. In the beginning both of them don’t know what to expect of the other, but find a way to satisfy both of them. The people in the neighborhood at first make jokes about Harry and his butler, but in the end they start to accept him when he starts to help them..
Plot: A gentle comedy offering the promise of easy social consensus. Harry (Helmuth) is a simple old-time shop porter offered a chance at self-realisation when he’s bequeathed a sum by an unknown relative (via several levels of fiscal blood suckers). He decides to engage a butler to take good care of him for a time. This is a man of distinguished upper class service, but a generous nature which happily integrates with Harry’s small but colourful world of drinking buddies and crackpot neighbourhood kids.
