Light weight entertainment.
This is a fun movie with a light, breezy script. It’s easy to watch and doesn’t appear to have any deep, dark socio-political statement. If you’re looking for nice way to pass an evening, then this is the film for you. To top it off it’s almost 100% Canadian made. Enjoy!

Cute high school film
Geena Davis is a narrator slash hero to the protagonist in the film. A heavy girl who wants to fit in and be a cheerleader but just isn’t popular or thin enough to be on the team.

Geena tells her throughout the film that it doesn’t matter what her outside looks like, because her inside is more important.

This kind of goes along with Geena’s real world work, as she is a person who supports girls and women in education and acting.

The young lady ends up having to do after school suspension at the next door old folks home…and everything just works out perfectly. It is very cookie cutter after school special.

The bullies get their come-uppens. The girl gets her happy ending. The old folks practically become her adopted family. The amount of sugar is diabetic.
