Might be true, but boring as hell to watch
The docu might (and probably is) true, but the way it is presented is boring as hell and only good medicin to fall asleep. Even the docu doesn’t give much info, but repeats the title endlessly. No proof, no testing, no explaining, just endless and pointless blablabla making an empty statement… for 90 minutes.
Poor
Great camera and editing.“Experts” in the documentary is everything but experts. They use terminology without even knowing what these words mean, let alone how the technology is created, used, what are its natural drawbacks and what are advantages.
Pure example: the documentary is filled with expressions like “algorithms are sexist”, “algorithms are threat to society and freedom of speech”.
If you check the definition of algorithm, you will see that it is “a process or set of rules to be followed in calculations or other problem-solving operations, especially by a computer. “a basic algorithm for division” (from Oxford Dictionary)”.
So, it is a plan of getting from point a to point b. Recipe for a cake is an algorithm for a cake. A route in your GPS is an algorithm. Etc.
Now so recipes and GPS routes are sexist and threat to freedom of speech.
Take a note here who are speakers in the documentary – do you see a programers? No. Do you see coders (yes, that is different)? No. Do you see at least product developers or something like that? No.
You see authors of dubious books (which now I am not inclined to read), random people on the streets, who knows who – except the people in it. So, next time you want to know something about electronics, please ask a local sailor, random hairdresser and a surgeon.
Because this is exactly what this documentary do.
