You People is a painfully average movie. Very average performances mixed with a bad script. The whole story felt as if they were checking off scenarios from a social issues list. I am all for telling these types of stories about race and sexuality, but the message is so blatant that it takes precedent over the plot. It results in a very manufactured experience. Despite my issues with the story, the movie was just not that funny. There were times I did laugh, I can admit, but that will happen with the amount of jokes they were spitting out. I didn’t really have a connection with main two characters either. Overall, just a very forgettable movie that is a disappointment with the talent involved.
_You People_ is a cold-blooded comedy filled with miserable characters who are all horrible human beings. The performances are fine if you were meant to walk away hating everyone in this film. Worst of all, this entire scenario can only end one way. There is eventually a moment of sincerity and humility, but it feels like too little too late.
_You People_ is two hours of people being dicks to one another in unfunny fashion with a rushed bow filled with forced heartfelt predictability tacked on at the very end.

You know, the ones who wrote all the cliched nonsense with the shallow dialogue, in attempt to make a social satirical rom-com, that ended up flopping miserably. And those that failed to direct the all-star cast properly, so they all ended up being unconvincing in everything they did and said.
I’ve seen failed SNL sketches with better execution, more urgency in the acting, with coherent and cohesive dialogue. But instead, those people gave us a long, dragged out, boring and shallow blah-blah commentary, with zero laughs, that will have you struggle to stay awake in this predictable sloth-paced nonsense.
Such a waste of a talented cast. This is one of those films that is more annoying than entertaining, and aside from the predictable romance as the core of the film, everything else is just forced, feels phony, and flops from every angle. I can’t even suggest it’s a decent one-time watch, because I feel like I’ve wasted 2 hours I’ll never get back.
In this film Jonah hill plays a character that is involved in “culture” but has the same interests and personality as a teenager, liking drake and sneakers worn by pretty much every young person everywhere. Eddie Murphy has a change of pace then the usual goofy character, but he has extremist views and in todays world it’s plainly fine, if he had different colour skin I doubt it would have the same comedic affect. The film is about two different cultures coming together, however it’s so obsessed with race issues it’s seems to create more of a divide then a sense of coming together as one, I don’t think I’ve watched a film where they compare black and white people so much, it did have some good laughs however and can be enjoyable for some.
