Began to Unravel Toward the End
Needing a break from their college studies seven young adults decide to travel to a small tropical island for a few days of sun and fun. During the plane ride there they are given a form to fill out which asks a number of questions with one being to list their greatest fear. Although this seems rather odd to them little do they realize that it will have a great impact on them when they finally arrive at their destination. Now rather than reveal any more of this movie and risk spoiling it for those who haven’t seen it I will just say that for a rather low-budget type of movie this certainly had potential. The tropical scenery was nice, the story was initially intriguing and there were several attractive women as well. Unfortunately, the plot began to unravel toward the end and the overall lack of suspense and character development began to take its toll as well. All things considered it wasn’t necessarily a bad movie but it could have been better. Accordingly, I rate it as slightly below average.

Round a friend’s house and we put on this uninspiringly packaged DVD that he’d got from God know’s where. I was expecting little more than a lagoon and a voodoo doll from a film with a title like this – something to doze off to really -, but was pleasantly surprised to find myself enjoying a fast paced, horror flick, an interesting voodoo motif, and a chilling denouement. It’s amazing what can be done with a beach, a few bikinis and a few inexperienced actors. This is a remarkably cogent and intelligent film that knocks seven shades of something out of The Beach and Scream. Why hadn’t I heard of it before? And why aren’t there more horror films made with Voodoo as the main subject?
