Easily detectable
My summary line pun aside, this is as cliche as it gets. This could easily have been a 90 Science Fiction film. It really does not have much on the story side to give us. Even the characters fall short. Considering the talent at hand, I reckon quite a few may feel dissapointed when watching this.

Having said all that, anyone who doesn’t care about certain things and gives the movie multiple passes, actually may have a good time with it. And I am not going to deny anyone that feeling. Cherish it and don’t mind the critics including me nor the multiple flaws this has – story wise and character wise. Predictable and full of holes this really is easy to dismiss. Which also might make it easy to love to a degree. And while I love Jessica Biel, I wonder if that bikini scene was necessary … well apart from the obvious reasons that have nothing to do with the story

It fails on nearly every level.
Three pilots taking part in a secret military program are assigned to train a jet plane piloted by artificial intelligence in various air maneuvers, but the program hits a snag when the plane develops its own warped consciousness, and it starts causing mayhem.

Stealth turns out to be exactly what it promises, which is a loud, dumb action movie. Unfortunately, the film isn’t very entertaining. I know films like Stealth are supposed to be mindless fun and aren’t supposed to be Oscar winners. However, by cheesy action movie standards, its still not very good. First, the story is extremely bad and the film feels like a joke at times. This is okay because the story isn’t supposed to be an action film’s main selling point. However, it doesn’t hurt if the story is actually good. Second, the dialog is awful and cheesy. I think Stealth takes the record for the worst dialog in an action movie. Don’t expect W.D. Richter to get many more jobs in the future after this very effortless attempt.

Third, the acting is, of course, very weak. Josh Lucas has had some good performances and he isn’t that bad of an actor. In Stealth, his performance is pretty bad. I wouldn’t really blame him but blame the person responsible for the story. Jamie Foxx gives an okay performance but he’s only in the film for about an hour. Jessica Biel is very beautiful but I don’t think she’s a very good actress. Here, she just seems lost and this is defiantly her worst role. The rest of the cast isn’t very good but aren’t as well known so it shouldn’t do very much damage to their careers.

The thing that makes Stealth a bad action movie is that the action itself isn’t very good. Rob Cohen did a good job with The Fast and the Furious and XXX but he seems to have lost his edge with this movie. Most of the CGI isn’t very good and the good action sequences are few and far in between. The movie ends up being a dull mess and it’s one of the worst films of the year. In the end, Stealth isn’t worth watching but if you must see it, keep your expectations low and keep in mind that it is just another mindless action film. Rating 3/10
