Synopsis

Watch: Rogue 2007 123movies, Full Movie Online – A handful of tourists looking for adventure get more than they bargained for when they cross paths with a massive man-eating beast in this thriller. Pete McKell (Michael Vartan) is a writer for an American travel magazine who has been assigned to write a story about vacationing in rugged Northern Australia. Pete signs up for a cruise along a river that’s home to a large crocodile population, with tough but pretty Kate Ryan (Radha Mitchell) serving as guide. Pete soon finds he’s roughing it in the Aussie wilds with an eclectic variety of travelers, including Russell (John Jarratt), who is dealing with the death of his wife; Simon (Stephen Curry), a tactless amateur photographer; and Allen (Geoff Morrell), a member of the British upper crust making the trip with his ailing spouse (Heather Mitchell) and their rambunctious daughter (Mia Wasikowska). While Kate’s former husband, who also works on the river, makes a pest of himself in the early stages of the voyage, the travelers soon find they have more to worry about when their craft is attacked by a massive 25-foot crocodile, who is just clever enough to know how to trap its prey before enjoying them for dinner..
Plot: From the director of Wolf Creek comes this terrifying look at nature’s perfect killing machine. When a group of tourists stumble into the remote Australian river territory of an enormous crocodile, the deadly creature traps them on a tiny mud island with the tide quickly rising and darkness descending. As the hungry predator closes in, they must fight for survival against all odds.

Finally A Top Notch Crocodile Film
I thought this would be a real cheesy B movie but was in for a great surprise.

Starting with the cinematography and the initial town scenes I figured this may be half decent. Things picked up even more with the scenes on the boat introducing the characters. Small touches like the guy letting his loved ones ashes into the water and the photographer having a sly chow down on a hidden sandwich were really cool touches. Bigger budget films should take note! It got better from there, not showing too much of the croc and building suspense with good pacing and realistic reactions from the cast. The cinematography and editing on the river journey were great. After seeing this I almost want to go to the Northern Territories. Almost, but not after the Croc finally shows its face.

This is one primal beast. The film does a good job of keeping it under wraps for the early portion of the film but when it finally shows its face its a great moment. The visual fx are faultless and the croc acts in a very realistic manner.

In the second act the filmmakers do a great job at ratcheting up suspense, using a great set up involving the river. I wont spoil it here but its so simple but very effective.

I am a jaded monster film fan and this one had me wanting to see it for a second time straight away.

Crocs and Alligators seem to be the whipping boys of the film industry with so many comedy or low budget appearances. To finally to see one with real teeth and to give it a go with a good story and great fx is fantastic. I would recommend this to anyone after a monster night out.

Where’s Dundee when you need him?
Ever since I found out about its existence I’ve been looking forward to watch “Rogue”, because I had reasonably high hopes that this would become the best killer crocodile movie since well, um ever! Come to think of it, we never had any really good horror movies dealing with crocodiles and/or alligators. I personally rank “Eaten Alive”, “Dark Age”, “Lake Placid” and “Big Alligator River” amongst the better ones, but even those only just slightly surpass the level of mediocrity. Most crocodile horror movies are total duds, like “Primeval”, Tobe Hooper’s “Crocodile” and “Blood Surf”. But now and thanks to the talented Australian horror newcomer Greg McLean, we creature-feature fanatics now finally have a Croc-Classic! “Rogue” obviously isn’t a masterpiece of cinema, but it’s undeniably a suspenseful and ideally paced thriller with stunning Australian Outback filming locations, an amiable cast of characters for once and some truly top-notch special effects. The basic plot is very simplistic, but that’s of course inevitable and at least McLean attempts to uplift the whole formula through detailed character drawings and the avoiding of dreadful ‘Man vs. Monster’ movie clichés. “Rogue” isn’t a brainless wipe out contest (there actually are quite a lot of survivors left in the end), the number of stereotypes in the cast is reduced to an absolute minimum and you actually come to care for each and every individual trapped on the small island. American traveling journalist Pete McKell joins guide Kate Ryan’s tourist boat ride on the remote Australian outback rivers, where vicious crocodiles reign and every non-local traveler complains about the insufferable heat. Near the end of their calm and peaceful trip, Kate is forced to go deeper into the swamps because they spotted a flare coming from a boat in distress. The group unwarily perpetrates into the territory of a gigantic and inexhaustible crocodile that promptly destroys the boat and entraps the survivors on a small and quickly sinking island. I don’t know if writer/director Greg McLean is a patriotic man, but fact remains that so far his two horror films (this one as well as the previous “Wolf Creek”) put up a nightmarish and ultimately grim image of the Australian outback. The landscapes and particularly the randomly inserted wildlife footage are nothing short of amazing, but simultaneously they generate a petrifying atmosphere of isolation and helplessness; which obviously harmonizes again perfectly with the type of movie McLean intends to serve. The last twenty or so minutes of the film, revolving on Pete entering the croc’s subterranean liar in search of possible survivors, is suddenly a lot less plausible but it does grant the opportunity to let us behold the immense reptilian monster in all its horrific glory after a large amount of brusque and supersonically fast attacking shots. The fake animal is a stupendous creation, looking extremely realistic and genuinely ferocious. “Rogue” isn’t half as gory as you would expect, but there’s authentic suspense, great acting and breath-taking cinematography. More than enough reasons for me to label this as one of the – if not THE – greatest Creature Feature accomplishment of the past couple of decades.
