Watch: Play Dirty 1969 123movies, Full Movie Online – The Dirty Dozen meets the Stiff Upper Lip. A British Petroleum executive (Sir Michael Caine) is assigned to work with the British Army in North Africa handling port duties for incoming fuels. This gives him the official rank of Captain in the British Army. The Colonel (Nigel Green), in charge of the Dirty Dozen, is told he must have a British officer accompany his men on a dangerous mission four hundred miles behind German lines and is saddled with the Petroleum executive, who tries to argue his way out by saying that his contract states he is to only work port duties. That argument is lost on the Brigade Commander (Harry Andrews), who simply points out that the executive is wearing a British uniform. The real leader of the Dirty Dozen (Nigel Davenport), a released prisoner, doesn’t need or want the British officer, who’s supposed to be in charge, but he’s promised an extra two thousand British pounds sterling if he gets him back alive. Disguised as Italians, their trek across Rommel’s Africa includes meeting and battling many kinds of enemies..
Plot: During World War II in North Africa, a group of British commandos disguised as Italian soldiers must travel behind enemy lines and destroy a vital Nazi oil depot.

Gripping look at the chilling underbelly of war
Prescient, dark slice of a desert war campaign — a band of jaded misfits is sent on a critical dangerous mission — that you will not be able to erase from memory. The tension De Toth creates in one scene of a booby-trapped way-station, with long patient shots and close ups of sweat beads, surpasses any but the most masterful of Hitchcock. Michael Caine’s role as a reluctant oil executive tagged on to the mission is a study in ambivalent survival. The characters are some you’d never expect.

De Toth is among the most interesting directors no one has ever heard of. His distaste for the studio system has meant that many of his movies have been overlooked. His style of storytelling is terse and sparse, almost unfinished, leaving the viewers to fill in their own ideas. Probably unsatisfying to some, but fascinating in his contrast to so many over-explaining movie makers.

Syriana owes much to the tenor of this story. It is the flip side of Band of Brothers. A story that today holds more lessons than ever.

Super Cynical War Movie Very Much From Its Anti Establishment Era
This is a film that has escaped my attention for the best part of 50 years. Until i met this film on budget DVD. Based around the famed British elite desert force of World War 2 the LRDG Long Range Desert Group the early forerunner to the SAS. The original special force. And set during the Monty Vs Rommel battles of late 1943. Here history stops and the films Counter Culture, Vietnam era, Anti Establishment, Anti heroism, Anti War, remember the “Ban the Bomb” protests & the late seventies swing to all things on the political LEFT! Drop out, Doped up and swinging on to free love time? Well i do, and well.From this historic era PLAY DIRTY was made. Yet, the film disguises its populist sentiments more or less until 60 seconds from the end, when BANG! – Boy did i not see that coming. Very well made despite a troubled production history, the original director and top star both dropped out at the last moment and a novice director then took over. The superb production values are excellent with authentic arms, uniforms and vehicles, the film is top from almost every aspect apart from the awful depiction of all things British Army. Rather insulting in reality to view through today’s eyes. None the less this is a secret classic war film and classic ERA film it could OH SO, only of been made in 1969.Well worth a look, for lovers of the films from the 60’s and even WW2 gender fans.
