Marvel’s Captain America: 75 Heroic Years was a nice summary of his years of creation
Just watched this on my recording machine just now. It chronicled the various incarnations of Marvel Comics’ Captain America-from his creation before U.S. involvement in World War II to today in the movies. Also touched on his various cinema incarnations such as his first time in a Republic serial in which he’s not Steve Rogers but Grant Gardner to his two ’70s TV movies and his 1990 theatrical incarnation to the ones made with Chris Evans today. Nice comments from the sons of creators Jack Kirby and Joe Simon and from Stan Lee himself who was 17 when he joined the staff of what was then known as Timely Comics. It also touched on what’s going to happen in the second season of Agent Carter which made its season premiere right after this special on ABC…So on that note, I very much liked Marvel’s Captain America: 75 Heroic Years.
Marvel’s Captain America 75 Heroic Years: Essential viewing………..for fans
I’m a nerd, big ol’ geek features and I’m proud of it. And part of my credentials is a love for Marvel, but Captain America is one of the most boring overrated characters so this documentary immediatly had an uphill battle.
Standing at just over 40 minutes long it has 75yrs of history to cover and all things considered it does it well (Though a tad rushed).
It tells Caps origin and creation, marquee storylines and moments throughout his history, connection to real life events and politics, all the way through the modern day Marvel Cinematic Universe.
I think they’ve done a fantastic job here and fans of Steve Rogers will find this an absolute delight. For me I’m glad it was short, but considering how much material it had to cover I’d personally have said it should have been double the length. Why have a person being interviewed if you are only going to use a single 3 second soundbite? Nobody puts Ming Na-Wen in a corner *Shakes fist*
Well made, very thorough and essential viewing for fans of the spandex wearing icon.
Some great interviews
Some interviewees are wasted
