Started strong and then fizzled out as it went along
The first 15 minutes of the movie made me really excited. I started doing research on the writer/director/main character hoping that things would continue along the same trajectory: fast food-eating loner finds himself in the wilderness because he’s dragged kicking and screaming along a treasure hunt.

Then it unraveled: Cheesy folk music, extra long exposition over smartphone video chat, and the nature porn. I like the outdoors and Yosemite is great and all, but I felt like the creator of this film had a good idea and then didn’t really do anything bold or interesting with it.

Now, there’s so much potential here. Honestly. And I have no idea how hard it is to make a movie. I hope the director keeps working on perfecting his craft because he’s got something going, just not with this particular film.
